French President Supports US Military Strike On Syria
Despite the UK parliament voting against military action on Syria situation, French president, Francois Hollande says such a resolve will not interfere with his earlier stance on Syria. Germany has also distanced itself from military action engagement in Syria. This is according to foreign minister of Germany who says military action is not being considered or been sought either.
The United States of America, however, has not relented on a possible military attack on Assad’s military bases in Syria. This is even as UN inspectors who have been investing the area near Damascus where it is alleged chemical weapons were used claiming 300 lives are yet to present their findings to UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon.
Russia which has been against the US decision to strike Syria backed the move by the UK parliament terming it good to avoid consequences that may arise after military action. France is a strong ally of the US and since first allegations were made on chemical weapons attack on Syria, it has fully supported a military action against Assad’s forces.
Over 100,000 people are estimated to have lost their lives in Syria since March 2011 when the civil war began. The White House had on Thursday stated that there is undoubted evidence that chemical weapons have been used in Syria and has sought to stem a decision on military action.
